The Uneditable Data [DIUNEDIT] option allows you to specify
that a field cannot be edited or deleted by a user.
22.2Any kind of field, except a Computed
Field, can be made uneditable. If editing is attempted, the
field's value, along with a No Editing message, will be displayed. If,
however, the value is part of a subfield, the deletion of the entire
entry in the Multiple-valued field will be allowed -- unless the .01
field of the Multiple itself is made uneditable.
You can also use this option to remove the uneditable restriction on a field that has previously been made uneditable.
22.2With VA FileMan 22.2, WORD-PROCESSING fields can be made uneditable as well, so that reference files and clinically significant text are protected from subsequent change. The dialogue below shows the option marking a WORD-PROCESSING field uneditable:
Select Utility Functions <TEST ACCOUNT> Option: UNEDITable Data
Modify what File: <file with WORD-PROCESSING field>
Select FIELD: <WORD-PROCESSING field name>
WANT TO PREVENT ALL USERS FROM CHANGING OR DELETING DATA VALUES
THAT ARE ENTERED FOR THE '<FIELD NAME>' FIELD? No// YES (Yes)
...FIELD IS NOW UNEDITABLE
